My Grandma's Apple Crisp

Wednesday, February 05, 2014

Hello Sparkfamily! Remember Grandma's apple crisp? I sure do! Here is my Grandma's recipe!

1 Tbsp cinnamon
1/4 cup margarine
6 medium apples
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup oatmeal

Peel and slice apples.
Place in small 6x6" baking dish.
Mix oatmeal, margarine, brown sugar and cinnamon together.
Top the apples with this mixture.
Bake at 425 F for approximately 30 minutes or until topping is nicely browned.
Serve alone or with ice cream.
Note: add slivered almonds, raisins or walnuts for added flavor. Enjoy!

What did you spin today? Hugs, Rose:) emoticon

Like my mom's, only we'd melt 1/4 c. butter, brown sugar and cinnamon and then mix into oatmeal and nuts. Makes a nice carmally topping.

I have some apples to use up; might just make this tonight. Using the oven will help to heat up the house!

Oh I love Apple Crisp with lots of cinnamon! That crunchy topping is delicious.
Recently I made it using the canned pie filling, and adding a touch of vanilla.
    This is a quick version.
Thank you so much for sharing your recipes!
