Well we got our first blizzard this week.. The neighbor is adding another five feet to the snow pile in my front yard.. Tanker trucks are flipped over, closing I-75 south of here...

When I returned home from work, DD had already shoveled half the driveway and a path to find her car in the driveway.
I think I may invest in a rain barrel that the township sells. It is complete with a hose and spigot to retain water from the roof or open air. All of this snow will just go to the storm drain and out to Lake Huron,, I would rather water my blackberries, raspberries and garden plants this summer with it!

Good idea on using the rain barrels with the moisture from the snow. Never thought of that.

I always feel that way when the run-off starts. The botanical gardens have fancy downspouts in to big barrels and they are fitted with faucets attachments for the hoses. They are on all the roofed buildings.
I would like one so I can turn on the soaker hose and take of for the day.
The gardens have millions of dollars and thousands of paying visitors. I can dream though. HUGS Pat in Maine.
Our snow was like sugar so it blows around but tomorrow DH is looking forward to playing in the snow he better put his cleats on. I bought them at a place that sells to ice fishermen. Not fancy and easy on and off. Say hello please to Kristy please, I am behind in responding to friends. emoticon emoticon emoticon

You got it worse than we did. We do have 6-8 inches out there and my wonderful neighbor did the driveway, sidewalk and wheelchair ramp today. All I have to do is clean off my car, and then shovel back up what I cleaned off of it.

Blackberries, raspberries and garden veggies....hurray! I am itching for the time we get to get out and tend to those things! The rain barrel sounds like a great idea and if the township provides it, even better!
