The last 4 days we have had a male Anna's Hummingbird in our backyard. We have a feeder hanging off the Silk Tree, and the bird stays in the tree when not eating. The Hummingbird has claimed the feeder as his own. He knew I was taking pictures of him, yet he stayed on the tree. Every now and then he would look directly at me. In the light his throat and top of his head is a reddish color, but in the shade the coloring looks black. It was overcast when I took these pics. I will take some new pics soon. What a beauty!!

That is awesome you caught a hummingbird at rest! He must be used to humans if you didn't scare him..that is the only way that would happen, imo. Just a beautiful bird!! emoticon

It's George! That's what we named the one that flies into the garage and sits on a desk lamp to watch my DH work in his studio. :)

Too cute for words Jeanie. I really Phillip Hoffman's work also. Many are saying his best work was yet to come, but I don't think so. I think we did get his best and would have gotten more of his best it had he lived. We should have a slumber party & rent his best films to watch emoticon I invite you to my place to watch any time you want, we can pick the movies & I will get them with some healthy food.

He is sure a fluffy one. I love the way hummingbirds see you and come in for a closer look. I have them up north in the summer and can sit on the patio while they feed and they will come directly over to me and look. Any movement, they do move back. Thanks for sharing!!

Maybe he is a young one looking for a place to nest.. or a sugar-mama hummer!! How cool would it be if he chose that as his new hummer estate? You could watch his family evolve!!

We get quite a few hummingbirds up here in West Quebec. I have oodles of hostas planted in the yard and when they flower the hummingbirds come to drink the nectar. It's quite nice to sit out on the deck and wait for the birds to come for a sip.

What a pretty little guy!! We only get the Ruby-throated in my area. I didn't put any food out for them last year, b/c they have not come to my house, but one did 2 or 3 times, so I guess I have to put some out this year just in case one comes along!! hehe Hope you have a great day, Jeanne!! Keep shutter-bugging!! (((HUGS)))
