A really hectic day yesterday, for a whole lot of unanticipated reasons, plus having a sudden BIG drop in temperature, gale force winds, and despite my trying, not much to show for my efforts. By mid afternoon I gave up and drove to my hairdresser on the off chance she could tame my been-too-long-since-it-was-cut hair sometime before she left for the day. Miracle of miracles, she'd just had a cancellation so she could do me straight away. The effects of having my hair trimmed and once again looking more human than woolly mammoth soothed my jangled nerves, so home I came again, ready to tackle some long delayed tasks. No, a friend arrived with her brother and sister in law so we sat and talked instead. Not complaining, because they were leaving to travel home early this morning. No exercise as a result though, much to the disgust of both dogs, and to my disappointment.
Temperatures had dropped overnight, but the winds are still here, and just as strong. I delayed walking the dogs till this afternoon, but there had been no change, so off we went, the three of us, walking against the wind. The dogs were so happy to be exploring again that we walked a few blocks further than usual, and once we got back home, both dogs just collapsed, exhausted in their favourite spots in the back garden. Me? No, the wind had proven to be really invigorating, and I was ready to try some more exercise. Nothing too energetic, so I settled on the SP 12-minute core workout video. Not only did it allow me to gradually cool down, it stretched some muscles I hadn't noticed were feeling tight until they'd loosened up after the video.
Somehow, against all odds, I am finding I'm really enjoying exercising. Starting off slowly, because there's about as much of my 60 year old body not working as there is still trying to work. Baby steps at this stage, but babies eventually learn to walk, then run... (not that I'm ever planning to do THAT! lol.)
