Getting over a setback

As some you know, my favorite "me time" is reading, health magazines mostly. I came across these words of wisdom in one of my many, many magazines. It's kinda where I'm at right now & no doubt you've all been there as some point or another in your life, so I thought I'd share with my sparkfriends.

Especially after a setback,
It's easy to think that other people are getting ahead
While we're falling behind, and might never "catch up."
But dreams don't have deadlines
And the best things in life don't happen overnight.
They take time.
And in time, they will happen for you.
Give yourself time.

I had been at a plateau for such a long time, I was getting discouraged. And then the past week and a half, I've been so swamped at work (with audits, meetings, end-of-the-year reports, a seminar) stress took over & all my good habits went out the window. Well, I guess I broke the plateau--but in the wrong direction! The scale starting inching upwards again! Definite setback mode!!!

We need to remember this when those inevitable setbacks occur. Whether it be a plateau, overindulging at a party, breaking a streak, or falling back into old habits, they are bound to happen eventually. Sometimes they just can't be avoided, although we can try to minimize the damage. Maybe the secret is not to not dwell on it, but simply pick ourselves up & continue on our journey. 'nough said!

    It's all right and it's all good, Carol! emoticon There's not one neat, even, "perfect" route to that goal...especially this time of year, when we're sandwiched (bad choice of words on my part!) between football festivities (dips, dips, dips!), the carnage left from Christmas/New Year's celebrations, and upcoming anticipations of untold chocolate. Yours is a solid, realistic view!

    Reading your blog showed me that you are keenly aware of what is happening and why. You seem to be focused on fixing the parts that can be fixed and releasing those that can't.
I see a pattern that always helps. Assess, address what you can fix, reassess and repeat until you like the results.
Gotta remember that!

    Fantastic attitude!

Drink lots of water, work up a sweat with some good cardio if you're able and eat clean for a few days....short-term blips like that can be corrected quickly...
