Tonight I followed my plan and went shopping during the Superbowl!! It was glorious!!! NO ONE around!! Trader Joes here is usually mobbed all the time, I was one of 3 customers!! Beautiful! Went and got my book "Breaking the Vicious Cycle" at Barnes and Noble, which was similarly deserted and is usually packed as well. I also hit the local grocery store Wegmans, and this particular store is usually AWFUL on a Sunday, to the point I WON'T go...A ghost town!!! The cashiers were fighting for customers!! Wonderful!!!
I got some organic chicken and chicken legs for my soup, some grassfed burger patties, as the local ground beef I have is too yummy and coveted for me to eat for lunch all week. I got regular Trader Joes. I got some fish as well to change it up, parsley, thyme and onions for my soup. Got a cheat for tonight...chips and onion dip. Going to be on this diet a while, I need to get whatever out of my system!
I also did a lot of shopping for DH. I had a meltdown last night because his lack of concern for his own health finally overwhelmed me. I just cried and told him how it is and how fearful I am that one day he is just suddenly not going to be here anymore. My Mom died at 50, his Dad had a heart attack at 50. He is 40, I am about to be. Its frightening! He has changed nothing. SO I got him to concede to trying to eat healthier, and basically for dinner I have no issue. He eats whatever I make happily. The rest of the day he eats kid food! So I got him kids organic yogurt tubes, some vegetables I know he likes that I can put dressing or dip with, some better sandwich flats with no corn syrup, pumpkin seeds and nuts, and a few pieces of fruit I MIGHT be able to get him to eat. Eventually I want to wean him off the bread but one thing at a time. Its a start. He eats now corn syrup granola bars, goldfish and the like, those nasty cheese and cracker packs, a sandwich with the worst quality stuff on it, and a cheese stick. The things I got have to be an improvement! He also smokes and drinks Mt. Dew Code Red all day long! So I am looking for alternatives to that too to wean him off the chemicals! That has to be the nastiest soda I have ever seen ingredient wise and he is addicted! BAD.
SO tonight I will read some more of the book and tomorrow is food prep day, both mine and now DH too. I am going to package up his veggies and dips for the week, and whatever else I can get going.
