january dot calendar accountability blog.

as i said at the beginning of the year this is my year of no excuses and that i will try and be more accountable so i said i would post my dot calendar at the end of everymonth so you can all see the good the bad and the ugly.so here goes


as you can see despite it being a new year i didnīt do too well at the beginning.you can see after the blc challenge started i started doing better.as you see i need the blc to keep me accountable.the reason being i donīt like letting others down.if it is just me i donīt seem to mind letting myself down so this is something i really have to look into and change.for those who canīt see the calendar very clearly and to save you counting(lol .) here is a break down and explination of the dots.

in the first colomn.blue dots represent the days i had no diet cola and the pink dot represents days i had diet cola.
26 blue dots
5 pink dots.
as i used to have at least a litre of diet cola a day i am pretty pleased with this.of course i would have loved to have no pink dots but on the whole i am pleased with this.the trouble is i see diet cola as a treat.i donīt drink tea or coffee and just water all the time can get boring.this is not an excuse but statement of fact.i am just going to have to look for something else to see as a treat instead of diet cola.all ideas welcome.

second column.
green dots are for days that if i eat the whole time this way i would loose weight
orange dots(couldnīt find yellow stickers)means if i continued to eat this way would be a maintain
and red dot speaks volumns which is why i did it bigger means stop carry on eating like this and you will put on,

13 green dots
10 orange
8 red

so i suppose is not too bad but also not too good i would have loved to have less red and more green but i didnīt and as i said i am posting it here for all to see in the hope that knowing all will be seeing this it will make me think twice before eating something to put a red dot on.obviously it didnīt work much january but i am hoping this next month will work after i see the calendar posted in this blog that all can see.thanks once again for taking the time to read this blog and an extra thankyou if you reply.take care and keep smiling.what is your way of keeping track?do you have a dot calendar so you can see at a glance how you are doing?

    I noticed more bad dots at the beginning and less toward the end. I tend to go the other way so I think you did terrific. Hope this month goes better for you. You really are doing well because you are learning from your mistakes. Not everybody does. Keep up the good work! emoticon

    Karen, I think you've done pretty well. Yes, there is room for improvement but if you look at the overall picture - not bad. I love this calendar since it's a great visual to see exactly where you stand.

    emoticon I put a Sticker on the Calendar in the Family Bathroom -- Heart Sticker for days I do Just Cardio and Happy Faces for days I do Strength Training.
emoticon I am working to find a Food Tracker System that works for me. I have used the Spark one ever since I've been here but lately it is just too time consuming and irritating -- It's me that changed, not the Tracker.
emoticon I really do like the Bigelow and Yogi Blueberry or Chai Green Teas. Especially the Chai has a Fabulous aroma and just smells like Fun. Breaking up with Diet Pop isn't easy, but when you do make the Break, you may be pleasantly surprised at how much you DON'T miss it.

    I think you did great on your part to keep accountable. I can understand how hard it is to give up diet soda. I used to drink them like no tomorrow. But after I found out about what it does to our body, I stop any type of carbonated drinks at once. I do not miss them anymore. My weakness is sweet treat like cookies and cake. But I know sugar is a bad for us and trying to sty away as much as I can. I no longer use table sugar, like coffee or in the tea. I use stevia in my coffee and cooking. One step at a time. Soon I need to stop drinking coffee too. But thinking a cup a day won't be that bad. Huh?

    I used to put what kind of exercise I did on paper and use stickers. I love it but its time consuming.Now I put what kind of exercise I did in my exercise journal here at spark. When journaling on paper I loved seeing those stickers. I used dots for the food tracking....out of all the tracking I find tracking food here extremely time consuming. I need to know cals and other info but tracking her is slow????????????

You don't drink green teas?? Home made juices with a juicer, crystal light in water?? or just place pieces of lemon, or orange or lime changes the taste of water without adding calories. just some suggestions.

    I sometimes use Spark's version of this calendar (http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark
/stay-on-track-calendar.asp). Mostly, though, I just go day to day, using my numbers (blood pressure, nutrition ranges, weight, fitness minutes, etc.) as an indicator of how well I'm doing.

Glad this works for you, though. And I like seeing other people's systems. I often learn something great from each person who takes the time to share.
