Kayaking in Antarctica

Saturday, February 01, 2014

My first movie, ever, cobbled together with footage from the Coolpix plus whatever stills were available during the "down" time while returning through the Drake Passage.

I used whatever video editing stuff happened to end up on this laptop during the 24 hours I had to set it up and learn Windoze 8 before I left (I never intended to make any movies).

Getting music off my iPod was a whole other issue I won't get into. So considering all of that, I'm surprisingly OK with the result. Maybe you will enjoy it.

BTW it took all night to upload using the hostel wifi. LOL

    Thanks for paddling FOR me!

I take it "shags" are some sort of bird? And by "terrestrial friends" there were people who did NOT kayak?

I love the "power poses" in many of the still pics!

It had to be such a feeling "victory" to be at the bottom of the world doing such a cool thing....

So many times people say about blogs, "You made me feel like I was there," but in this case it was really true. What a fabulous video! Thank you for crediting the music, which was glorious and matched the setting perfectly. You also answered something I was wondering about--Can one roll a kayak in arctic waters and live? How cold was that?!

What a wonderful, once in a lifetime trip! Thanks for posting the video. I wonder what percentage of Americans can say they've kayaked at Antarctica?
