Nothing happened again!

We made it to Oklahoma City today.

Remember the lost gas cap story from yesterday? I left it at Flagstaff and bought a new one in Gallup. Today, we had lunch in Tucumcari, NM, near Texas. It's kind of a Radiator Springs town (Cars). And when I gassed up, yep, I forgot my gas cap. Again.

We needed to gas up again in Shamrock Texas. That truck guzzles gasoline. In the store I asked the young man if he sells gas caps. "No sir."

So I asked him, "How about that box of gas caps back in the office left behind by morons like me?"

He gave me a look like "How did you know about that?" then a funny kind of grin. He went back into the office and came back with an exact fit. "It's yours, man. But how did you know?"

Obviously because I am not the only moron on the road.

I told Patrick to treat me as the dottering old fool I am and remind me to put on the gas cap every time we fill up.

I spoke with She(WMBO) today. She is thought we would be going at a more leisurely pace and arriving on Monday. Well, if that's the way she thinks, it makes me feel less apprehensive about the weather in Indiana & Missouri. Weather Underground also gave me confidence that things will be good. If it's bad, we can just shut down early and get a fresh start the next day.

And the Super Bowl? We'll have a TV in the room and I am pretty sure we can find a bar that won't be looking at the HGTV that evening.

I still haven't heard yet if Mike has left LA yet. He will be coming home by way of Dallas. I hope he doesn't drag it out to two weeks like he did back in November when he last drove out to LA.

Indiana closes when the snow gets really bad emoticon

Have a great trip and you are not alone having to ask for a gas cap. I am raising my hand now. Had to do that one time in my travels.

Be safe on the road.

I'm guess you are going through southern IN, so hopefully it won't be too bad. Up here is horrible on the roads today.

Funny about that box of gas caps! Mine, fortunately, is attached by a rubber strap. BE CAREFUL!! St. Louis is expecting freezing rain and sleet! You know, that "M" storm!

That is probably why a lot of newer cars have the gas caps hooked to the car now because so many people were leaving theirs behind. I used to put my cap in my coat pocket when I had a car that had a loose cap. Just an idea.

Ah, the mind is a terrible thing to waste. I think every gas station has it's lost-and-founds in the gas cap department! Hope you can enjoy the game. It should be a doozie!

My son did this once when I was gassing up .......... he left it somewhere, when I discovered ........ I delivered the benevolent speech to him ............. "Now Ryan, it's only a thing .......... Don't worry ........ it will be ok."
BUT THEN the next time he did the same thing ............... I cancelled the speech and he got the LOOK instead ............ emoticon

I am blessed to have a vehicle with no gas cap, and before that the gas cap had a little plastic strap that it hung from so worse I could do was drive with it dangling, but not lost.

Here's an idea: Put the gas cap in your pocket when you fuel up, the worse that could happen is your pocket gets dirty, but you will still have the gas cap once you realize it wasn't attached. You could put Patrick in charge of that and let his pocket get dirty instead if you want.

Enjoy the SuperBowl wherever you are watching it from!

My husband loses gas caps all the time, so thanks for giving me an idea for next time! Here's hoping you miss the weather.

I'm glad sometimes that my cap is attached by a strap, else I'm sure I would have lost it by now. I'm down to two of those tire valve covers, because I can never remember to put those back on.
