Friday rush!

Friday, January 31, 2014

Everybody here is mobbing the gas stations and grocery stores upon hearing that we are supposed to get another eight inches of snow tonight/tomorrow, then another eight inches on Tuesday! It may not sound like a lot of snow to some people, but our location dictates that the Great Lakes effect blows the snow drifting many FEET higher, burying cars, houses, etc. We thought the arctic air and winds was bad, but now more snow just makes the whole thing start all over again. DD and I stocked up on fruits and veggies, Yet another reason I have a fully stocked pantry in my basement. Freezer stocked with home preserved jam, veggies and fruits, pre-made meals.

I guess I can turn my freezer off and open the door again for a week or two.. those subzero temps are on their way.

When it's that windy, it doesn't always take a lot of snow to cause problems. They are calling for 3-6 inches here in Big Rapids tomorrow.

Meijer was jam packed this afternoon when I was there, probably for the same reason, except it's also pension day and a Friday so may have been part of the norm. I usually shop on Saturday and opted for today due to the weather forecast.

Hope it turns to gentle rain soon!
