I think I have changed..finally!

Friday, January 31, 2014

Forever, my food cravings have dominated my life. emoticon All the advice about eating in a more healthy emoticon way came to naught for me because my cravings ruled me.

I had to start where I was. emoticon Many sparkers told me things that had worked for them --and none of these worked for me. emoticon

So... I started eating more veggies emoticon as I heard on a CD by Dr. Fuhrman. The audio emoticon aspect of this was very powerful to me. It was Eat for Health Book One. That was well over a year ago. emoticon At first I actually got sick eating so many vegetables. I had to slow down. Now, I have many of his recipes made and in the freezer--mostly soups. emoticon

He promised my cravings would go away. Well it took me a year and a half! It sure wasn't an instant fix. But I knew I was on the right track.

Now, I think finally the tricks people use to eat less or eat more healthy foods might work for me. emoticon

Thank you all for hanging in there with me. chris

You can work at it from both sides.

Make an effort to accept urges without following through on them AND eat better food more often when you do eat. Anything else "working" is likely an exception, and exceptions are very hard to use as models.

What great "news"!!! The same thing happened to me: I found that I want fewer sweets if I eat more vegetables and fruit! I mean, who knew, right?!???!!
So glad we finally found this out!!!

I am so glad for you. I agree that eating lots of veggies is the way to go. Fruits become a treat and I do enjoy my yogurt.

emoticon It takes time to make changes to things we have done all of our lives. If only our parents had gotten it thru to us back "when". I am always happy to see children who love fruit and veggies-they likely will not have a problem later in life. I hate to hear people declare they won't even try something either. I now eat lots of things I didn't think I would ever eat-one can acquire a taste for lots of things and if it is healthy for us-that is the best thing we can do for ourselves.
Keep up the good work.

We have to manage this problem on our own at the end of the day. I think finding the things that work for you is magic.

The idea of adding something to your diet instead of taking [favorites] away is so cool because it doesn't bring that sense of deprivation! Keep up the great path and keep sharing it with us!

It is strange but 10 yrs. ago or so when Atkins hit the pike, I did it along w/ most my co-workers and I KICKED cravings .............. STOPPED drinking a daily mocha and never missed it ................. (I don't advocate that diet) but at least I got one good thing from it .............. I know it can be done ................ emoticon much for the info and notes on AS ............. I plan to find a dab of time to delve in this weekend and read ............ I appreciate you taking your time ............ Jan

Chris you are so right when you say that, we all need to find our own formulas.
My Grand daughter use to always tease me saying, grandma don't wear your dentures the day your favorite food is made & that way you will eat less. No with age and my gums de-generating, I can't wear my dentures especially when I eat. Initially I was eating only mashed foods but now I make sure I eat my regular diet only thing my DIL sees to is that it is a little more over cooked. I take longer to eat but eat lesser so it is helping.

I eat less also. I have know choice. I eat what I am to eat but I now eat slower and chew.

So sometimes I don't complete all on my plate. Dr said that is okay as long as I have the veggies, meat, pasta , fruit. Have a snack. Milk, cheese. I eat goat cheese. Love it.

No problems. I eat different then others. I have Colitis disease. So I am on gluten Free food and that I like and it does satisfy and it is filling. More than I used to eat with white flour products.

So good for you. You have found what right is for you.

Yes, everyone is different but we all will reach the same goal at the end.

Have a great Friday Sweetie.

God bless!

I used to crave sweets all the time, but as long as I stay busy I don't have cravings and after this time no longer have them at all (knock on wood) I can have just 1 cookie or piece of cake.
