Gift to myself

My birthday is in three weeks, give or take. My husband has been asking me what I want. Initially I said I wanted all of the Harry Potter movies. (Don't judge me!) I like to put them on for background noise when I'm doing stuff during the day. I was able to record most of them on the DVR last week, and to be very honest, I don't think I could figure out how to play the DVDs if I did get them. So the DVR thing is working out just fine.

I have plenty of jewelry, most that I can't wear since my daughter likes to pull on earrings and necklaces. My wedding set is tight, though I'm hoping that by sticking to my plan here they won't be tight for too much longer. I have a couple of stand in rings that I wear on occasion, so I certainly don't need any more rings.

So then thinking in a health focused fashion I suggested that I get a bike for my birthday. That way I would have something to use to mix up my workouts if I couldn't get to the gym. Hubs is all for bikes, but seeing as its still the snowy season here in NY he thinks we should wait on bikes until the spring when we'll actually be able to use them.

I was at the gym today (fourth day in a row!) and saw a thing on the wall about a special on personal training. I've never had a personal trainer before. I've never been this big before either, so I think it may be something nice to do for myself to sign up with a trainer for a few sessions to reacquaint myself with some of the gym equipment and have someone help guide me toward some good workouts for me.

I haven't inquired yet, but I'm a little lost when it comes to picking the who. There must be 20 trainers at the gym I go to. I know everyone has their own fitness philosophy and things they like. I really have no idea as to go about picking someone that is right for me.

    The gym should be able to guide you as to which trainers specialise in weightloss, rehab, muscle building etc and which one would be the best fit for you - I think it is an awesome gift the right trainer can gently push you into things you may not even know you are capable of and then after the sessions end you will have a new level for the future you and know when it gets "comfortable" you can push a little harder with or without the trainer :-)

I know its weird but I wonder if you may even have seen some people regularly at the gym you respect or admire and have never spoken to maybe this could be a way to meet someone new and learn more about the assets at your gym - ask them if they have used any of the trainers and how they found it as you are considering some PT sessions :-)

    I've never had a personal trainer either, but I was wondering if maybe you could visit with somebody at the gym that could recommend one of the trainers that might have the same type of goals in mind. Just be open and honest to the type of trainer that you are looking for.

    Ask for advice from the professionals at your gym. It sounds like a great idea. The bike is a great idea too. Happy Birthday!
