DH asked last night what my plans were today. Trying to guess correctly, I said "Clean the kitchen, do the dishes and catch up on laundry, What about you?"
He said, "Nothing, just a leisurely day."
Yeah, God must be a woman, because we woke up and our well had frozen. (Seriously, first time in 45 years...it was in the actual well casing, not the pipes to or in the house.) No water. That meant he had to spend his 'leisure' day trying to thaw it out, and I could not do dishes, laundry, or clean the kitchen, thus had to take his day of leisure.
My neighbor called and asked me out to lunch, but at 1:00 PM, not my usual 11:36 AM lunchtime. As much as I would have preferred (?) to stand outside next to DH in 15 below windy temps, I forced myself to make the ultimate sacrifice.
Consequently, I got too hungry to wait until 1:00, so I snacked...on fruit mostly, so not too bad. Lunch was grilled chicken and part of a baked potato, so not horrendous, though the condiments wiped out my fat allowance quickly. I came home, and as you would expect, when he was ready to eat, I wasn't. To be sociable, I ate a small cookie and had coffee. Later, of course, I got hungry and had my salad, and more cookies. But, the whole day was 'off.' I ended up with too many meals, too many snacks, too many calories, and way too many fat grams. I did get 64 minutes of fitness today, but none was strenuous enough to qualify as aerobic.
Did I mention...after 7 hours of rigging heaters, monitoring the slush levels, even contacting the 'well guy,' the water was finally moving again. Thankfully it was fixed 10 minutes before the 'well guy' returned his call.
What does that mean to me? It was a lesson learned. You can have plans made, but you also need back up plans. My eating generally follows an informal plan....fruit every morning, sometimes with cereal, sometime with eggs. I decide in the morning. Today I went with carbs, no protein. Now I will include both every day. I got too hungry to last the morning. Lunch had been preplanned....tossed romaine salad with shrimp and cheese. But, I ate elsewhere. The timing of the day was so off that my typical exercise was disrupted. I did not do my treadmill, nor my elliptical, which for me are both aerobic. I did use my stationary bike as I watched TV, but frankly, that is activity, even exercise, but not aerobic. At 8:00 PM, I try to not do aerobic, because I need my beauty sleep.
So, now I am off to take a bath! I am taking a pencil and tablet and decide what my meals will be, and also a few meals that I can count on in case my plan goes awry. I can hopefully 'absorb' today's totals, but I certainly can not have any more of these if I expect to meet my goal of 3 more pounds by March 1....which is why I hope today is unique.
