Since getting back from vacation I have noticed that I am ravenously hungry all the time, especially during the day. I’m so hungry that I get to the binge point, were I’ll eat anything you hand me, I don’t care I’m hungry.
I couldn’t figure out why I was so hungry. I eat the same foods at the same times as before; and before I didn't have any problems. So I was going over everything trying to figure it out. I wondered if perhaps it was because I was “bad” over the break and I’d gotten used to eating more. But it’s been nearly a month of eating right and I’m still hungry all the time.
Then yesterday, I wasn’t really hungry, but it was my snack time and I didn’t want to get overly hungry, so I had my apple. I noticed that within ten minutes of eating that apple I was ravenous. I was so hungry I felt a little sick.
I did a quick search and learned that because apples are so high in carbs, they tend to make people MORE hungry after eating them. But apples have so many health benefits it’s not something that should be cut out entirely. The suggestion was to pair apples with protein, like cheese or peanut butter.
So I gave it a try this morning. I paired my apple with a cheese stick to see if that would help curb my hunger pangs. And so far so good.
