Feeling more like me

Wednesday, January 29, 2014

It is exactly one week since my breast cancer surgery. I am doing well. I trained twice so far. I will get another training in today. I plan to start swimming on Friday (with doctor's blessing).

I will go out to lunch today with my husband. I got a gift card to Olive Garden from the Breast Cancer Survivors' Support Group. I will attend the next meeting on Feb 3. Yes, I checked out the nutrition of what I will be eating today. Everything is fit into my nutrition tracker prior to going out.

I purchased some clothes with pink ribbons and did research on treatments and meds. I will be going on Armidix. Seems so good to me. I seem to only need radiation treatments. Measurement will determine 16 versus 33 treatments.

I am healing nicely. I took a pamper day for a massage and to get my nails done. I did one hospital visitation so far. Hope to schedule my home communions (3) this week and next week.

See my surgeon on Feb. 10 and my internist on Feb. 18.

So does that mean no chemo? That's great news.

You are amazing the way you are facing this and taking as good care of yourself as you can, even working out within a week of surgery.

God bless you. Glad you are feeling better.

I had radiation to the chest wall also 11 years ago. The longest appointment was for the set up; after that, I just zipped in and out of there most days, the radiation itself took less than 2 minutes. Once a week I had my "doctor day" when I would have to stay and see my radiation oncologist.

I was on Arimidex at one time too. I don't recall that I had any bad side effects with it.

Sounds like everything is going well. Enjoy your lunch! I also have a gift card from Olive Garden which I will enjoy with my daughter one of these days as my husband doesn't care for it.
