That's when I will have to renew my drivers license.
I had to get a new one as the old one expired on my birthday, Dec. 19, 2013.
I had the old one since 2005. Here's a look at me back then.
I was obese , about 258 lbs, but listed my weight as 240. I couldn't bring myself to write an amount over 250. At that weight no one can tell the difference anyway. Of course I was to go on to 350 before I took control of my weight.
I stayed obese and in Jan. 2010 started a weight loss program.
By the middle of 2011 I had reached my goal of 145 . Changed my hair to red. The photo and description on my license didn't resemble me. But even though I was reminded by the bank and some store clerks that I should get a new ID, I didn't.
In the fall of 2012 was denied access to a flight because of not having current ID.
After going through that ordeal of changing flights. Rushing home to get my current passport to use as ID, I decided it was time to get a new drivers license.
The first time in Oct. 2012 .went to the DMV, I didn't have my birth certificate. It was a new law that Oregon had imposed and I didn't know. So I put off getting the license again.
I knew that by having a current passport I was covered as far as ID went.
The early part of Dec. 2013 I had to go to the MVD to get new title and plates for my van. Decided to get the drivers license too..
I put on some make up, a cute little hat , threw on a sweater and thought I looked pretty good. I was OK to have my picture taken.
I had all my forms filled out, had my birth certificate. Mentioned that I was glad I had on a cute hat for my picture as it was rainy and my hair looked awful.
The clerk looked at me and said, "you'll have to take the hat off for the picture."
I said forget it. i would come back another time.
O)K we are down to the wire. My license expires on the 19th of Dec. I have attempted twice to get a new license and failed.
I got up on my birthday and though it's gotta be today.
I washed and styled my hair. It's long now, takes more time to fix, but I like it for a change. I got dressed, was looking good. Or at least I thought so.
Got to the DMV. everything went well until the eye test. Oh my gosh. I could hardly read the letters. I finally read them after switching glasses a few times and squinting with one eye shut to read the line I could hardly make out. Was surprised when the clerk told me I passed.
Then it was picture time. There is no mirror. I thought my hair was good. That is until I saw the picture. I had messed up my bangs taking the eye test. But what was done was done. it will have to be. Unless I lose my licence and want to go through another photo, hoping it will turn out better. No way!!!
I fingred, who cares. who is going to see it. I'm just glad that I don't have to get another one till 2021. Who knows if I will still be around . Plan to, but who really knows..
Here's the up to date current license.
I do think I look better now 8 years later at 72 than I
did in 2005 , at 64.
If there anything to take from this storey. Don't put off getting a current ID. You never jnow when you might really need it.
Be strong, stay positive.
