A few weekends ago my husband hung a hammock in our backyard. It has been like a dream come true for me. I love hammocks! I'm not entirely sure why. Even as a little girl I had a fascination with them. There was just something alluring about rocking gently in the wind suspended by little and just being in the moment. And I find that allure is still there. There have been numerous times since he hung the hammock that I have found myself drawn outside to enjoy the beauty of a slightly warm winter day. Staring at the branches and clouds above. Using my imagination to concoct letters and physical representations out of nothing. My favorite of times was Wednesday. My sweet baby boy was up napping and the whole house was clean. It was silent except for the hum of the washer and dish washer. So I ventured out to lay for a little while before I needed to go get my older boys. It was a beautiful 69 degrees and the world felt slow. I almost started to doze. I can't tell you how much I loved that moment.
Thursday had an entirely different tone. I had a very busy day. Drop the kids at school. Quick trip to the grocery store before a dr.'s appt for baby boy. The dr appts are always crazy with my little man as he absolutely cringes at the idea of strangers touching him. But once it was said and done I went to visit a friend and her new baby that lives very close to the dr. It was bone chilling outside. The worst part was the wind. After about an two hour visit I rushed back to pick up my boys from school early since on rainy days its a fiasco picking them up. But the early pick up proved smooth. We came home to enjoy some much needed hot cocoa and cuddles on the couch. It snow Thursday! In central Texas!! it was beautiful and even more fun was that it stuck.
Even though there was not even an inch left on the ground both work and school was canceled for my men Friday morning. So we put on what warm clothes we have and went out to play. After an hour or so it was back inside for more hot cocoa and netflix.
You would think we were in for a chilly weekend, but it just wasn't the case. It was 80 degrees by Sunday (have I ever mentioned climate change really creeps me out) I had every intention on hiking this Sunday but sick babies always put a stop to any plans. Instead I spent my sunday swinging in the hammock and it was heavenly. Although this weekend did not equate to ideal physical activity I still loved every second of it (well the seconds that weren't involving bickering from my kiddos.)
This weekend I also tried something from pinterest that was heavenly!! It was crustless pizza. You just take a pizza pan. Spray it down with cooking spray and put the cheese right on the pan. Cook it at 425 degrees and throw on whatever toppings you like. I did mushrooms, kalamata olives, a little feta, and a few pieces of spinach. It suggests you dunk it in pizza sauce but I thought it was so good no need for the extra calories. It was amazing!!
For the most part I stayed on track food wise. I just didn't actually track. I really have to work on my weekend tracking. I always start out with the best of intentions and I usually track Saturday breakfast and maybe even lunch but I usually fall flat by the afternoon snack. I will just have to work on it next weekend. Give myself a break since we had a four day.
Looking forward to tomorrow getting back on a regular schedule. And catching up on my run. Hope everyone has a happy healthy week. And keep in mind, if you don't have a hammock I highly suggest in investing in one!
