This year, I decided to set one weight loss/fitness goal per month, and one household goal per month. I wanted to lose 5 pounds for the month of January, and I reached my weight loss goal yesterday. Today we started and finished the household goal, which was cleaning/organizing the laundry/pantry room. We emptied the room of every last item, cleaned the room from top to bottom, and only returned items that belonged and looked nice. That room looks fabulous! I'm so pleased. I love, love, love having things clean and tidy! Another perk, is that this project was completely free. It just took a few hours on a Sunday afternoon.
So, my weight loss goal for February is to lose 5 more pounds. That will put me at 208. I think I will add to that by having a goal to work out at least 2-3 days per week, even if it is a small workout. My household goal for next month is to refinish a wooden bench that is on my front porch. I need to wash it, sand it, fix the seat, and stain it.
I feel so proud! Sitting around all weekend and relaxing does feel nice, but I must admit that I really like feeling accomplished. Yesterday Husband cleaned our bedroom from top to bottom. It hasn't been this clean since we moved in. I don't want to make it sound like we're slobs, because we're not. I'm definitely a "neat freak" (my friends tease me), but it's just been a long time since the house has had a really good thorough deep cleaning. Getting the house in order is really making me feel good, and I know it will translate into my weight loss as well. I read a great book once called "Does This Clutter Make My Butt Look Fat?" It was about how it is hard to lose weight when your house is chaotic and messy. It's really a great book. I can have pride in my space and pride in my health and I am fully capable of taking care of both.
ONWARD! I'm loving getting things done!
