Rocky Update

Sunday, January 26, 2014

The vet gave me 50 Valium at 5 milligrams each. She told me he could have 3-5 at a time every 8 to 12 hours. I started him with 3 when we returned home and in about 20 minutes or so he was relaxed, laying on the living room floor and breathing comfortably.

In about an hour I believe he was stoned, lol. He kept looking at himself in the patio door then looking at me with a "What did you do?" sorta look.

He rested comfortably last night. We gave him 2 more before we went to bed and he slept through the nigh with no issues.

Today he had one this morning and seems to be back in balance. He's not jittery or anxious and he was barking at people going to church this morning. We changed his food to a no grain, chicken based diet. He likes it. I'll see how he is tomorrow before I give him any more meds. If he doesn't need them then I wont supply them.

The bulk of the blood work results will be back Tuesday afternoon and the thyroid test results will be back on Thursday. So far so good.

Thank you all for your prayers, support and suggestions. Joan and I appreciate it.

I know how you feel! We had one dog with epilepsy and then we had another that had her first seizure when she was five. The one who was five would have one maybe once a year and we did not give her medicine as most medicine they give them for seizures is really hard on their liver. The one that was five lived to be 13 which is good for a Sheltie. I wouldn't think at his age it would be epilepsy. As a friend of mine said we think God messed up on how long our pets live but of course I do know God knows best!

I'm keeping him in my prayers along with his parents!

Hugs!

Anne

Grains aren't the best thing for us, and I think the same is so with our pets. I'm glad Rocky is feeling better. Everyone deserves a little buzz once and a while.

Glad Rocky is back in balance. Does he have allergies (the diet switch)? I put my dog on a grain-free diet for allergies and my vet suggested salmon vs chicken based. She is much healthier since I took her off grains. Hoping for good news on Tuesday with Rocky's test results.
