Weight Loss Challenge -- Work Edition & my bucket list

Saturday, January 25, 2014

Friday at work my co-worker was casually mentioning he had just joined a weight loss challenge. Apparently a group of people on my floor get one organized every year. I didn't get the e-mail, but he forwarded it to me & I decided to join.

$20 buy in. 8 weeks. Loss is done by percentages, not lbs. The winner each week gets $10 & the overall winner gets 70% of all the remaining $. ANNNNDDD, for each pound gained (if any) you owe additional money to the pot.

My competitive spirit got the best of me. I figured I was trying to lose a few lbs anyways. If this will help kick my ass into shape then so be it.

We will weigh in each Friday AM at work. Technically we can weigh in at home & take a picture, but seems easiest to just always use the same scale. I would hate to "gain" weight because the scale was off. Haha

Anyone ever heard of Ragnar? It's basically a 2 day running relay. Teams of 12 ppl run about 200 miles over the course of 36 relay legs. I have joined a team for a race in September running from Cumberland, MD to Washington, DC & I couldn't be more excited. So, Sept is a ways away, but I'm already giddy!

Running Ragnar is on my 30 before 30 list, a deconstructed bucket list of sorts to get my ass in gear & not waiting until I am much older to start doing great things. So, super stoked & recruited a good friend to join me as well!!!

Anyone join a weight loss challenge at their job? Anyone win one!?

That is awesome, I can't wait to hear how your training for the relay goes. We've never had a challenge at work; Weight Watchers has come in and had meetings at work. I can understand the competitive advantage, that would be a big motivator.

Good Luck, I hope you win the pot!! emoticon

No weight-loss challenges at work for me, but I have friends that have.
Great idea, with the deconstructed bucket list! You have been doing great things - that bike adventure still amazes me! =)
