Everyone is a Therapist

Saturday, January 25, 2014

I woke up this morning early and went to the weigh in. I'm down to 139.8 lbs. I really need to try and exercise this week and not eat burgers and fries. But what really annoyed me was the new counselor. Where do they find these people? From what I know she is a nutritionist and that's great and all but that doesn't make you a psychiatrist.

I told her I was off plan this week because I'm going through some personal stuff and I'm going to start seeing a regular therapist. She goes on a 20 minute rant about not letting life get you down and to be more positive. I'm sorry, WHAT. Are you a trained medical professional? Hell no. Then she asks if it's marital problems. I almost lost my **** on her. How is that in any way your business? Just weigh me and get off your pedestal.

I've been so pissed off all day that I have to wait 12 hours before posting. Ugh. I started my citizenship paperwork though so there's that.

Yeah..... it is none of her business what your issues may be. Her job is just to weigh you and give nutritional advice, not try to pry into your personal life. I would have been SO pissed off! Not to mention that telling people to be more positive & cheer up, etc. does not help if the person is truly depressed. Unbelievable.

As for the snow, I hope you got some and are enjoying it....we get too much up here in Boston, I would be happy if we got no more snow this year. It's too freakin cold these days, but I imagine down there it's a real treat, so have fun making your snowman!

That is ridiculous and I would have talked to her manager.

Everyone is out for their buck. When you go back, ask for a different therapist. I would think this one would leave a bad emotional scar on top of everything else you are going through.

None of what went on seemed at all supportive.

Congrats on the loss.

That is really frustrating. One bad week doesn't define anything though, just keep moving forward emoticon

Hopefully she will become a better counselor before she hurts a lot more clients. Congrats on the loss!

Geez, overstep boundaries much? Someone needs to clue in! Life happens, and you can't be on plan 100% of the time. If she hasn't figured that out yet, she shouldn't be in that position!

No one can control your happiness without you empowering them. Maybe your counselor should see a sign I heard about, "Never use your influence until you have some."
