43 -- Looking forward to my best year yet!

Saturday, January 25, 2014

Wow, guess it's been a while since I blogged!

At 9:15 tonight, I will "officially" be 43. I enjoy celebrating birthdays because it means that God has blessed me with another year on this earth. Birthdays in my family mean family get-togethers and lots of attention! As one of my ex-boyfriends once said, "You Reeds celebrate EVERYTHING!" (We also celebrate big on holidays, too)

Last week, I finally decided that unless I'm accountable to someone, my weight loss journey is pointless. I do REALLY well as far as cardio goes, with my Zumba class, Hula Hoop class and treadmill walking, but my major issue is EATING! The above-mentioned ex-boyfriend and I used to play a lot of tennis, ride bikes, go walking, etc., but we also ate a lot of Mexican food! My mom once commented, "You and Jack are so active, why isn't it showing?" I told her I thought the Don Chilito's, Jose Pepper's and Buffalo Wild Wings were sabotaging it all!

So, I'm going to enjoy the rest of my birthday weekend (celebrating tomorrow with Tony) and then Monday morning I'm meeting with the trainer at the local gym and get my butt in shape! Ashley is going to come up with a circuit workout for me that includes weights (which I haven't been good at incorporating into my plan) and will help me with my poor eating habits. Unfortunately, that means I have to WRITE DOWN WHAT I EAT! I have to get serious about that. I've failed many times on Weight Watchers because I'm horrible at journaling! I know that's the key to success, though, so I'm going to do it!

Will run in my first 5K of the year on February 17th, the appropriately named "Frostbite 5K" and then will see what other races I can find to do. My ultimate goal is to run the 5K on the 4th of July in under 35 minutes. I have a ways to go to get to that point, but with less weight on me, surely I'll be able to move faster!

Have a wonderful weekend, all!

    Happy birthday!!!

I have found have better luck if I set reminders after my usual meal times to log in. I am able to see where I am at that point, and rethink later meals if necessary.

Have a terrific weekend!!!!!

Happy birthday! Eating is a MAJOR issue with me too. I hate that I will eat even if I'm not hungry. I would like to do a 5K, but I would probably have to walk it, though. I haven't ran/jogged since junior high (35 years ago) in PE. I don't think my knees or ankles could handle it.
Good luck!
