Let's Count This Run as a Big Success!

Most of my usual Galloway running group members are running Celebration Half Marathon tomorrow, so they didn't run today. Only 2 of our 9 pace groups did run today, and I had my choice of 5 miles really slow or the fastest group (all members who regularly do full marathons and I'm a half marathoner) for 11 miles. The Program Director reassured me that I could do it, so I went with the fast group. I borrowed a windbreaker/rain jacket as I had taken fleece and there was a light mist at the beginning of the run. The weather got nicer as the sun rose; temperature was in the 40's.
About 4 minutes into the run we tackled a big hill. I had muscles that didn't like it and my cardio was about maxed out. I considered turning back; one other person did turn back. Glad I didn't quit. We ran intervals of 2:1, 2 minutes run and 1 minute walk. Sometimes in order to keep up I had to run longer and walk shorter, but I did keep up. I was never the last person, although up hills I was usually the next to last person.
We ended up running 11 miles in an hour and 59 minutes, which is a pace a little faster than my best half marathon. I'm a little sore now. Just used the foam roller. All in all, I think it was good for me. Nice people, too. I count today's run a big success!
