Day 22 of Mental Toughness commitment: beyond the videos

Saturday, January 25, 2014

It is my intention to blog out the remainder of the original "90 day commitment" to show how it's going, and to keep the important bits fresh for myself.

Some of the important bits:

1. Personal responsibility. I'm a grown-up. Nobody is going to take care of my health but ME.

2. Don't be fooled by false emotional arguments, like about "fairness". Reality is reality.

3. Keep the high goal always in mind, and make CONSCIOUS choices that support that goal.

Current status:
Still 100% compliant with my program since before Christmas.

The GPS known as the scale shows me trending in the right direction.

Most important, I FEEL good, physically.

LIFE is good. It's better when I am fit. Each and every one of us is worth whatever effort we put into getting and staying healthy... be it food choices, exercise, seeing a doctor, or practicing dental hygiene... (had to throw some extras in there, it's not ALL about "diet").

Committed to living consistently, consciously, and creatively GRATEFUL, each and every day. We are worth it! emoticon emoticon

Barb, we definitely ARE worth it and there just are things in life, fair or not, that are our reality. For me that's weighing, measuring and being active. That's not so bad, is it! Nah. Not compared to what life was like BEFORE I did those things!

HUGS and here's to a great weekend.

Practicing dental hygiene- I realized the importance of this when in my mid 20s I was getting my braces off (very late in life, I know), then I was told I had the gums of someone in her 60s!! OUCH! Huge blow to the ego, but I started taking care of them since.
Caring for moms mouth this year after decades of neglect on her part. She's had more extractions than teeth left! Still has those ugly dark filling (they fill them white now), she's gonna need a partial and she's not even 60 yet!!

I was so glad to see that you will be continuing to Blog about Mental Toughness. I am on Day 20 and was already missing the daily video and reading exchanges. This will help me keep up my 100% compliance commitment.

That "fairness" argument is a biggy isn't it? One of the first things a kid learns to tell her parent (with devastating effect sometimes!) is "That's not fair!!"

It's not fair that I can't eat whatever I want whenever I want. Other people (apparently) can. Oh well oh well oh well. For me, objective reality.

I don't wanna be a grown up. But am content with doing an excellent imitation of a grown up.

Glad you're going to keep on blogging -- and are committed to 90 day compliance. I'm roaring along with the 100% diet compliance, need to step up my exercise game a bit!!

I relate to the comment about being a grown up. No one is going to take care of me other than me. Ugh.... there are days I just don't want to be a grown up.

Barb---I never knew that your weight bounced around (like mine)---for years--- My dream is to get below the 200 mark, and I am so ashamed that in the past 2 yrs, I just bounce around---Finally the Team head--LOL----from the Sudbury team (there are only 3 members on this team)--He proposed we try for a weight loss by March 1st--- He drew up a chart etc--which I printed out and I try daily to chart my exercise and food-- But--I am so ashamed that it has taken this to wake me up---and now I hear that you did the same and now are so successful---makes me think there is hope!--Thank-you so much!---Lynda

I have not been able to be 100% compliant and I keep restarting the videos. I'm upset with myself. It's great that you have such resolve!
