My "scrap" afghans I'm working on

Friday, January 24, 2014

I've mentioned to several of my Spark Friends that I'm working on afghans using up my stash of yarn (big and small) and they asked to see what I'm doing. So here's what I'm doing, I've actually got four different afghans going on but here are what three of them look like so far.

This is one of the blocks for my "big" block afghan.

These are the other blocks for the "big" block afghan that I have started. I'm thinking of edging them in black before putting them all together.

These are my two other afghans. The one on the right was started first - it's just one big granny square. The one on the left was started because I had yarn left that wasn't enough for another row on the bigger one so I started it. Then what was left went into the "big" blocks.

I don't have photos of my fourth afghan which will be a traditional granny square afghan. I'm using up all my yarn stash so this will be made out of what I have leftover from the other three. It will be interesting to see how far my yarn stash will go! I had alot of yarn left over from projects plus the yarn I picked up at yard sales or thrift shops. I've made a few blocks for my fourth afghan but mostly just have a shoe box with left over yarn.

Hope you enjoyed my latest winter projects. The biggest afghan keeps me warm while I work on it (lol). Definitely need that on these cold winter nights!

Have a safe and warm week!

very nice. I have never learned how to make granny squares. I make scarves and lap blankets with my knitting or crocheting. I make hats on the round knitting loom.

My grandma used to make granney square afghans out of wool yarn when I was little. Still have one left, but it needs some mending. Yours is beautiful! I don't crochet, but I do knit. Been making scarves for the homeless shelters, keeps me from mindlessly eating!

Have a great weekend and stay warm with those afghans!!! :-)

Thanks for sharing! I'm working on a block afghan myself. Although, I don't know how to make granny squares, so I'm just crocheting a bunch of squares out of the yarn from a failed project and I will sew them all together. I haven't decided if I'm going to try to make some kind of geometric design, rows of single color squares, or just be random about it!
