Adding in Strength Training

So one of my goals this year was adding in strength training. I started working with my personal trainer Katie once a week and I am really getting a great work out. My goal is to do strength training 3 days a week, so on the other days I attend a group weight class or I do weights a home.
2 things I am proud of so far:
1. Katie told me I am the only woman over 50 that she trains that can do a lunge - either they are too heavy or their knees are shot
2. She was impressed that I could hold a plank - I held it for over a minute and that is because I did the plank challenge back in November!
I am definitely working my muscles and can feel that I am increasing my strength. I really think this is going to help decrease my body fat, increase my lean muscle mass and hopefully speed up my metabolism. But bottom line, it is good for my health.
