A little history

Friday, January 24, 2014

2013 was a rough year. Lots of medical issues along with personal drama. I was unable to exercise because I couldn't drive for 6 months due to seizures and my schedule was based on others schedules, there was no "me" time. In October I was able to drive again and started going to the gym 4 x per week. Last week I began in home walking 2 miles a day with Leslie. I have been juicing for 6 months and enjoy it. Problem is I haven't lost any weight. I know my medications play a big role in weight loss, but its discouraging working this hard and not seeing results. My hope is that is I track everything, I will catch what is causing me to not lose the lbs.

I found that juicing was when I really began to lose weight. I went on a 12-day juice fast and lost 14 pounds I hadn't been able to lose in 2.5 years. My inspiration was "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead" but I did a year of green smoothies before going to juicing. Here is the Mean Green recipe that Joe Cross and others used in that movie and after. I use the recipe, except that I put in way more kale and skip the lemon. It hurts my teeth. I am now on Day 23 of a long-term juice fast and am down about 20 pounds. So happy to have off the holiday weight.

I hope you feel better soon! Louisiana is a beautiful place.

I thought I was going to do a bunch of juicing thinking it was going to help me get a lot more healthier food in me in one day, and help me to get in my daily fruits and fibers, but then I started to try to look up the calories on it all and If I was going to do what I had thought then I would really be going over the calories each day. Could that be your issue too? Most greens and veggies are okay for the juicing and calories, but you have to watch the fruits and even some of the veggies are really high calorie. Also if you are doing a lot of new exercise then you might be building muscles that weighs more than fat, so like someone else above said, please measure yourself once in a while to see if maybe you are at least losing inches even if you are not losing LBS. Some times when I get stuck I change things up, eat more calories a day for a week and see what that does, as if you don't have enough calories you can get thrown into starvation mode by accident. Or try eating less calories, exercise more or less and see if that helps? Your body gets use to your exercise routine too, so you have to shake it up every once in a while. Well all my best to you always.

It is discouraging to work so hard and not lose anything. I am on meds myself and have difficulty. I need to get motivated more - your blog has helped me. If you can do it, so can I.

I have never done juicing--don't really like juice.

If I haven't lost weight, I start measuring everything. Mindful eating is one way to savor fresh fruits and vegetables but it is the thing I struggle with! I learned to eat quickly during 39 years of 2o min. lunch times. I think I'll join the mindful eating group.
