Pictures of my marzipan work so far...

Thursday, January 23, 2014

I'm still all up in marzipan over here! The good thing is that I have not actually started baking yet so I am not in the danger zone of tempting treats...yet. I thought I would post a couple of pictures of where I am at so far:

The dragon is done. He will hold a birthday candle in his hand. The knight is basically done. He just needs to be assembled once he sets up a bit more. He also has a shield I will decorate today. Not sure if I am confident enough to put our Irish coat of arms on it. It looks complicated ...a lion of sorts with a wavy tail...we'll see.

I paint the tea set today with a floral design and give the knight a face. I will also make the trim for the castle. Perhaps I will make flags as well.

I still have to clean my house and make petit fours for the tea party. Friday I will do that. Tonight Quintessa got to chose anything in the world for her chef parents to make her for dinner as today is her birthday. She chose fresh baked (white) bread and tomato soup made from a powdered mix with macaroni floating in it! (We don't have canned soup in Norway) Powdered soup mix! Really! Well at least it is cheaper and easier than a 7 course meal. I even sprung for the expensive powdered soup mix! emoticon

Tomorrow is Liam's birthday. For him it was a tough choice for his special birthday dinner...between pancakes and plain pasta with cut up hot dogs and ketchup squirted all over it! emoticon emoticon I told him to please choose something he truly loves rather than just something his parents don't let him eat! emoticon He chose the pancakes.

Ok well I gotta run. Tiny little marzipan tea sets don't just paint themselves!

Those figures are amazing! You are so talented. Liam is a lucky little boy (although his food choices are a bit worrisome). I hope he had a spectacular birthday.

Your marzipan figures are amazing! I love the dragon candle holder. That is too funny about the kids' birthday meal choices. You are awesome parents to grant their birthday food wishes! Fresh baked fully white bread and homemade pancakes sound like the best indulgences ever.

Oh my goodness Ronna! The marzipan figurines are amazing!!! But I think you got off way too easy with the birthday dinners. I wish I had chefy parents. When they are older they may not be so easy to please.
