Doing better...

Wednesday, January 22, 2014

Whatever had my tummy so upset last night and this morning seems to have passed. Thank goodness. I was able to eat a normal dinner tonight. Somehow I managed to make a quick beef stew for one meal. Normally I have trouble cooking just for myself. I end up making a big pot that lasts about a week. I did add a little too much corn starch, but it was still good... just thick.

It is still bitterly cold, but Cooper was a little stir crazy so I walked him more than I expected to today. He starts shivering like crazy, but does NOT want to head for home. Silly dog. I wish I could convince him to wear a jacket. I wear long underwear, a sweatshirt, a heavy winter coat, a hat a hood, a neck warmer and gloves, along with heavy socks and boots... and I still get cold. He just has his thin fur coat and he is romping.

I am consistently doing 3 minutes on the wall sits. I do 3 a day, for a total of 9 minutes. I have gained a couple pounds, but my clothes still fit fine, so I am thinking it is due to more muscle mass in my legs. Or something. Maybe I am just being delusional?

Went shopping with my dad today. Stocked up on essentials and only bought one junk food item in three stores. There was a lot of temptation. Do stores purposely put the junk front and center? It seems like the first thing I see on the shelves is the junk food.

My JRT does not like sweaters or jackets either. It never looks like he has any fur at all - but I tell you, hes a shedder, must have seven layers of it! Awww little white hair everywhere! Dog LOVE!

yes, stores know exactly what they're doing.

your winter-wear sounds like mine. I even put a 'nightshirt' over my clothing and under my jacket.

Glad you are feeling better. Every store you go into now has Valentine's candy out. Why oh why do they do that?? I just don't buy any even though it sure looks good.

You stew sounds yummy. I fixed some the other night for DH and I. It sure was good on a cold night.

I went to a town council meeting yesterday. All the snacks --all!-- were sweets and things like chips! I used to expect that I suppose. Now I find it appalling!

So glad you are feeling better!
Yes they sure do put junk food first. I was proud of my main grocery store when they remodeled their store to put the produce section right in the middle so its the first thing you see, but they ruined it by putting in front of it stacks of specials, usually pop and pies and things like that!
One more cold day and we are out of the deep freeze. Hope it eases for you soon!

Yes...they do tend to put a lot of terrible food front and center. It's their big money maker items and what a lot of people unthinkingly eat.

I've got to believe the 3 pounds is muscle with all the exercise you do.

Cooper is like my Lady. Take her outside and no matter that it is -20, she still spends time sniffing around and running up and down the sidewalks. Crazy dogs!!!
yes, infact, stores do merchandise their crappy foods front and centre. Also if you look carefully at the shelves, the foods that are tasty, usually due to processing, preservatives etc, are at eye level in the stores and the healthier options are on the lower shelves or on the very end of the shelving. It is all about grabbing your attention and enticing you to buy. SOme companies even pay the chains to put their product up front and at eye level. Check out that cereal aisle one day and see what is where on the shelves . It is a head game for sure.
