7 weeks into the new me and I am still on track in reaching my ultimate goal of losing 72 pounds by the time we go on our cruise this October. Today, I weighed in at 283.8 down 28.2 pounds from where I began last month. I am equalling 4 pounds a week, which I know to be too much to be considered for sustainable losses in the future - however, I'll take it any way I can.
Walking has yet to become a boring task. This past week (7 days since my last blog) I have officially walked 31.9 miles, which averages to 4.5 miles a day. My high point was yesterday when I walked for 7.2 miles. I did that because the day before I could only get in 2.5 due to time constraints and appointments. 7.2 miles is the most I have ever walked in a day since I have been recording myself. WooHoo!
With my Spark Tracker placed on my shoe and recording every step, I have proud to say that I have maintained an average of 10,000+ steps a day. This last week that too increased, obviously due to the walks. I nearly broke through 80,000 steps for the 7 days. To date this month, the device has recorded 220,000 steps over the 21 days and that includes the two days that I couldn't get out of the house or exercise because of the severity of the cold I have.
My goal is to beat Tisha as far as exercise minutes. Tisha (TUBLADY, her member name) is the 71 year old that I mentioned in my previous blog. Tisha also walks everyday and logs her progress. To date I am barely on top of the exercise minute challenge. I have completed 1,800 minutes thus far this month and she has completed 1,640. That's not much of a cushion however as I have noted that she has stepped up her pace these past few days. What was a 1,500 minute spread at the beginning of week 7 has remained a 1,500 minute spread and I have added all of this additional walking.
So, the question is, can I reach 280 by February 1? That's another 3.8 pounds to shed in the next 9 days. I will work at it, but regardless, I am proud of what I have already accomplished.
