Day 782- Constantly Amazed

Voted Popular Blog Post: View All Popular Posts

Wednesday, January 22, 2014

Last night, after work, I went to the gym to try and work off some of the nervous energy surrounding still not hearing back from the job.

I know I should just forget about it and they'll call me when they call me but it's just so nerve wracking. But anyways, I went to the gym and decided to try and do a 5k on the treadmill. I've never been able to really run on treadmills. For whatever reason, I'm pretty sure it's mental, I've never been able to keep a steady pace and always end up having to slow down, even though when I run outside I can run 10:30 or 11 minute miles with little to no effort.

Well last night, I just decided I was going to conquer the treadmill. I ran my first mile changing between 5-6mph and finished it in 10:43. I was ecstatic! I believe I saw it in HOLLYS_NEW_LIFE's blog, it was something to the effect of "Your legs aren't giving up, you are." So I kept pushing, slowed my second mile down to around 5.3 mph, until I got to 2.5 miles completed. I just decided to push myself as hard as I could, and I ran the last 0.6 miles on the treadmill at 7 mph! I couldn't believe it. I'd never been able to stay at a pace that high for more that .1 or .2 miles before having to turn it down.

But I'm now realizing how much my head played into that. I've probably been capable of it for a while, but I've just never pushed myself that hard. But more and more, I'm realizing, even at 180 pounds, I'm capable of so much more than I ever imagined. I've become an athlete!

And I love it.

Try something new today. See what you're capable of. I promise you won't regret it.

Love you Sparkfriends!

It's so true. I'm convinced our bodies are capable of far more than we subject them to - your run is a perfect example. Keep pushing those boundaries. :-D

Beautiful! I wonder if the same is true for me....I can't seem to run very fast yet I did over 6 mph in intervals. I just get nervous on the treadmill about falling off. (Difference between the 20 something and the 50 something!)

That's a positive way of channeling the nerves. I also feel and think, but of course it's not true... that they take their sweet time to decide. It just appears and seems that way. I think you will get it, if it's the right place for you.

It's tough waiting. It seems there is so much competition now. One has to tell themselves, it's not me, when they pick someone else. Where I live, they even take interviews because they most, and already had some employee chosen already.

If they don't call you in a few days, you can find a question to ask them; it will make you feel better.

You have come such a long way. It's great you got yourself to do this challenge. It's so neat to be an athletic
