Does a tongue really stick to a freezing metal pole??

Wednesday, January 22, 2014

OK I got your attention. I’m sure we’ve all seen A CHRISTMAS STORY! As was the case with Flick in A Christmas Story when his tongue got stuck to an icy flagpole after he accepted a triple-dog dare from another boy. And believe it or not this memorable scene gets played out several times a year, whether it’s due to a triple-dog dare or just a really, really stupid idea.

So now I lay before you a similar question. Can a tongue really get stuck on a cell phone in sub zero weather emoticon emoticon

You may be wondering why I’m even questioning this but I’m so glad to tell you the answer is NO - it doesn’t. Well at least if you aren’t licking any metal on it and only licking on the screen emoticon

You got to be wondering where this is going. Well here goes… the weather today was “sub-zero” around -4 degrees and I had my pooch out to do her normal business. But it was so cold although I was all decked out in my warm attire I sadly neglected her. Within only 2 minutes out she was hopping holding up her legs unable to walk in the frigid temps. So back into the house to pull on those %$@ boots of hers only to return back outside to get business done!

Well she was soo cute I wanted to take a picture of her with - yep “my cell phone”. Only problem was that I was so tightly wrapped up to protect myself with mittens and all that I could not function the touch screen on my iphone… emoticon So are you beginning to get the picture here emoticon

So I decided, with out even thinking first to use my tongue for the warmth needed to activate my screen since my fingers were not working through my mittens. I’m sure if anyone was watching I looked pretty ridiculous emoticon - “licking at my iphone” emoticon

But it worked! I was able to turn on the phone, and even took a picture - see…

So the answer is NO - your tongue will not stick to the screen of your phone in sub freezing weather, just incase you ever need this “unnecessary and useless information” emoticon

Good to know. Don't think I would have thought of that. Cute pooch by the way.
