This weekend was really fun for me and my family. We actually had a FREE weekend.... that never happens! It was so nice to not have any where to go or have to rush through things. We took full advantage of it!
We received a fresh coating of snow Saturday morning so there was lots of shoveling to do. But first I took advantage of the warmer temps and fresh snow pack and went for a 5 mile run with my friend. The roads weren't even plowed yet so it gave us lots of resistance. I am weird... I like making things tough!
After running I came home and helped my kiddos shovel the driveway. After they got done shoveling they started rebuilding their snow tunnels. They do this every year and it is always fun watching them. After shoveling I headed indoors and did some spring cleaning. The sofas really needed to be vacuumed out!
We ended Saturday with dinner at my MIL's house. It was nice and cozy with the fire going and we had plenty of laughs!
Sunday was a lot of fun! I wanted to get out on a date with my hubby so we headed out early Sunday morning to a new park to do some snow shoeing and geocaching. It was so peaceful listening to the birds chirping and the snow falling from the trees. The sun was bright and warm! I only had a couple layers on and ended up removing some because I was getting so hot. It was a great time with my hubby though!
This park we found was really nice and I can't wait to revisit it! It had a ton of trails that had some good hills and the scenery was beautiful!
Throughout the hike, I made a few things in the snow. I first made a heart and then made a snowman. It is fun to act like a kid sometimes!
And we ended the hike with a picture of hubby and me. He does not like taking pictures so I am glad I got one with him smiling.
After snow shoeing we headed up to get some dry gear on and then headed out to the sledding hill with the kids. We were meeting Matt's family there and letting the cousins go sledding together. We try to do this at least once during the winter months. The kids always have a blast!
While sledding I started up a snowball fight which then turned into a full blown snowball fight with the kids and the adults. Even my MIL joined in the fight. It was lots of fun. The kids were laughing, snow was flying, and I think we had more fun doing this then the sledding.
And yes.... last but not least, we did build that snowman. Someone else at the park started one rolling a huge snowball for the base. After the kids had fun playing on it we finished off the snowman.
It was a really fun "outdoor" kind of weekend. These kind of weekends make it easier to come into work on a Monday. I feel refreshed and ready to take on the week!
Have you played outside yet this winter?
