Week ending 01-18-14

Monday, January 20, 2014

01-12: We went to my parents’ to celebrate my mom’s birthday. I made her a Hershey’s chocolate cake. It is one of her favorite cake recipe. It had coconut pecan frosting. My older sister came over with her kids as well. My nephew is only a few months older than Lorelei and it is so cute to watch them play together. She got a hold of one of his bottles (we use the same type so they are identical to hers). It was cute because he drinks a soy formula which she is not familiar with and when she took a drink she threw it away from her like it was poison. Overall, it was a fun time. When we got home I played WIO for a while. Gotta get some exercise in!

01-13: Today starts the weight loss competition at work. I am on a team called the Waist Watchers. First place team gets $150. We made a separate bet between the four of us as well. We each chipped in $10 and whoever loses the highest percentage during the competition gets the $40. So I have $190 on the line. My weigh in at work was 250.0. Ouch! My scale at home is slightly nicer.

01-14: We took a walk at lunch today and yesterday outside. It is chilly, but it feels good to get some fresh air. After a few days of above freezing temperatures it is turning back into winter.

01-15: I went out with some of my sorority sisters for dinner. We are starting an Alumnae chapter for our area. I have been elected as Treasurer. We went to Kitchen 67 which I had never been to. I had a very delicious pulled pork wrap with a baked potato and broccoli. It was the special so it came with a dessert as well. It was a small cinnamon/sugar roll with vanilla ice cream and caramel drizzle.

01-16: Class tonight. I had McDonald’s for dinner, but I made sure it was in my calorie range for the day. I got a Buffalo Ranch McChicken and a small fry. I am proud of the improvement. A month ago I would have ordered and eaten two McChickens without a second thought. As it was I was plenty full with just the one sandwich. I ate it way too fast though. I need to stop eating like there is a prize for finishing first.

01-17: I went out with my work department for a late lunch. It was our belated holiday lunch/white elephant gift exchange. We went to Logan’s. I didn’t really limit myself, but I did stick with just water to drink. I got an awesome gift. Three really ugly trays, hot chocolate, and a movie combo featuring 6 Children of the Corn movies and 3 Halloween movies.

01-18: Official weigh in day! I was a little worried after my overindulgence on Friday, but the scale was friendly. I’ve lost 3 pounds in the past week. Woo Hoo! I ate at Five Guys Burgers and Fries for the first time today. They are delicious and very generous with their fries. My husband and I split a medium fry and it was more than enough for both of us. I also purchased a small exercise trampoline to use in the basement. I am excited to get it put together and start using it.

Overall, it was a good week. I had a few over the top meals, but they were balanced by healthier meals and exercise. I exercised every day. I am happy with the loss. I know that it is easier to lose weight in the beginning and do not expect to maintain a 3 pound loss every week, but it a nice way to start. Go team Waist Watchers!
