This is the first year I have ever actually tracked the effects of the eating season on my body, and, well, wow. I take a 3-4 week Christmas break, and it is par-tay time with the family . . . complete with lots of red wine, ice cream, and butter butter butter, bay-bee!
So, I just did whatever, with the intention of checking back in here at the end of it all to check the impact, and impact it was. My first weigh-in, two weeks ago, said I had gained 14 lbs! So, I lept right back on the scale and it said 11 lbs and I decided to go with that one rotfl, although I could not bear to post that weight on here . . . how sad, eh? :/
However, I was very motivated to get back wit' da pro-grammmm, so did my first week and weight in again: down 5 lbs. Then this week, down another 2 lbs so only at a net gain of of 4 lbs (or 7 if you count that first weigh-in that I am trying to ignore lol. The mind is a wonderful thing.)
The scary part is what my Eating Season eating-style did to my other numbers. I have put on sooo much fat!! I didn't do those measurements two weeks ago because I didn't want to know, but did them today: There's an extra inch on my waist, an inch and a half on my hips, even a half-inch on my neck, ugh.
But that's a good thing, because I needed to be brought up short. I don't do New Year's Resolutions, but here's my new Life Avowal: I will eat healthily during ALL seasons, and when I party, it will still be with care, and with tracking, dammit.
No, I am not beating myself up. I am just shocked, but shocked into action is a good thing, so I say,
Thanks again, sparkpeople.com, for the tools I need to get and stay HEALTHY!!
