It was a year ago this month that I started losing weight again after a visit with a Dr. who told me I was obese and it was dangerous for my heart and organs. That was all I needed to hear to start counting calories but more importantly change my eating habits to having 4-6 servings of fruit and veggies a day and cutting out cheese and eggs due to high cholesterol. I was already walking daily for the past 4 years but I increased my walking time so that by last summer I was walking 2-3 hrs a day. Now, even with winter weather...cold and rain...I am still walking an hour most days. I lost 60 lbs last year.
I have already lost 3 lbs this month. My goal is 2 lb a month this coming year. I am at 170 and my final goal is 130. If I lose 3 lb a month like this month already I could easily get down to 130 by the end of the year. Weight loss is not my entire goal. Eating right and exercising are my two goals. I will lose weight as a result.
I have been going to Over Eaters Anonymous since a year ago Sept. That has been very encouraging. I have also been logging my walks on spark people which also encourages me.
