This week has gone really well as far as eating was concerned. Of course, it's been a normal week with no big challenges, so there is that caveat. On Wednesday I did cheat and had a diet Pepsi, and yesterday I had some dessert at someone's retirement party, but other than that I've been on track. I've also gone to the gym three times this week, so I'm pretty happy.
I have a coworker who is doing the *actual* Whole 30 challenge, and we were talking about it this morning. She asked me why I was doing it. She is doing it to try to figure out which foods are bothering her stomach. She said she also finds it very cathartic and cleansing.
I am doing it for a bunch of reasons:
- It is forcing me to be mindful of what I eat. I have to take the time to think about everything I put in my mouth and make an effort for my food.
- It is forcing me to build good food habits like planning ahead and cooking more. It's also gotten me to measure my food more to help break some proportion distortion.
- It is forcing me to put myself first. It's an excuse to cook for myself and buy things that I sometimes consider "luxuries" (eg, berries that are out of season).
