From Bad to Worse

Friday, January 17, 2014

emoticon If there was even a hill present after how yesterday started, it went further down. The lunch meeting had possibly the worst food imaginable. Keep in mind that this is the first pasta I've eaten in a year. I taste the "penne alfredo" and there's no flavor, like NONE. I douse that thing in pepper. Next was the "tossed salad greens" which needed salt. Then the biscuit was too sugary. Finally, they added some weird salty half tomato. I don't even understand this menu but obviously it was made by some blind person that was born without taste buds.

After that meeting we had the first meeting with the party planning committee and woot, more work for me. Honestly, I don't even want to attend this party. As I was about to leave for the day after no breaks the big boss comes over and relays some depressing news. The bonus, which I have been planning to use for my citizenship, is almost non-existent. Which means I have to eat that $700 cost myself after I had just spent an unplanned $504 on glasses. This cuts into my vacation budget. I NEED a vacation. I haven't had a break in over 2 freaking years of week after week after week of THIS.

I didn't track how many unplanned glasses of wine there were but there were many.

I can probably name at least 100 things I'd rather be doing than sitting at work today. It's a long weekend because I get Monday off as a holiday. Tomorrow is yet another glorious weigh in that I am not looking forward to. I don't even care anymore.

Oh attitude has somehow infiltrated you. Let's make a pact - enjoy our wine, find SOMETHING in our lives to look forward to, even if it's a half hour here and there. Now to come up with some ideas on how to do that!

Wow, I'm sorry the last 2 days have been so rough for you. It's pretty ridiculous how many food "events" there are at your work, not to mention someone bringing in doughnuts all the time. Your boss sounds like a real jerk!

Maybe take some time this weekend to just relax and do nothing. Like just veg out and do nothing....let your mind have some rest from all that has been going on with work. And get some extra sleep, maybe take a walk in nature again, do something that will relax you on a deep level like a meditation.

When things are rough, just concentrate on doing the best you can in the situation. I know it's hard to care when everything is so messed up, but you don't want to regret throwing in the towel. Just take everything as it comes right now, and try not to worry about what hasn't happened yet.

That lunch sounds terrible! I honestly hate the field we are in. I have to do party planning at times and it's no fun. Your other blog also mentioned needing to hire people and have them not work out. I go through that a lot.

Have you ever considered looking for a different job, considering you're unhappy with things there lately?

Wine is delicious and it's my go-to drink as well but unplanned, uncounted glasses of wine really add up. :( Good luck with your weigh-in. Mine have not been going so well and I've cut back on wine!
