Trying again....

Friday, January 17, 2014

I started with Spark People a few years ago and didn't really do anything. But now I feel like I need support! I will be 51 next month, and my body is not at a good weight for me, but it is getting harder and harder to lose. I think my hormones are going crazy, too. I am joining a dating website but I want to not be so fat when I do it. My goal is to go from 183 to between 160-165. I am 5'5 1/2". I already eat well and exercise every day, mostly yoga (vinyasa). I have been struggling with these 20 pounds for almost 2 years, have seen naturopaths, applied kinisiologist (I know I spelled those wrong) my regular doctor, and a nutritionist. I have not come up with anything that works. I usually eat a tiny breakfast (a yogurt, an egg) a salad for lunch, fruit during the day. The problem is when I get home, I snack, I have wine, etc. I need to break my habit. Even so, I still aim for 900 calories a day, up to 1200, and I have been gaining weight on that! I feel like my body is NOT on my side. Any success stories out there to inspire? - Cathy

Bottom line is that you must burn more cal. than you take it. Stay the course!

I know for myself that if I don't eat enough during the day, my nighttime's are totally out of control.

Is there a reason to limit your breakfast and lunch so much? Unless a doctor has put you at 900 calories daily, this is really not enough and could lead to nighttime binges.

thanks for the support, friends! I hate that thinking about my food and my weight is such a big part of my life. But I have come to realize that if I want to be - not even thin, but just normal!- I have to change some habits. So using this site should help, right??

  Hi Cathy,
I am not expert by any means, but it may be that you are not consuming enough calories. 1200 cal/day is the minimum one should consume and even that can be too low. Have you tried using SP to plug in your current weight, the amount of weight you want to lose and by when-SP will spit out a calorie range for healthy weight loss. Good luck!

You can do it. Check my SparkPage for my plan. It worked. Enjoy Friday, and the weekend ... but continue to count your calories. Don't estimate, count! Estimating will kill any plan you have.
