I read a very tragic story about a woman named Meg Menzies, who was struck and killed by a drunk driver while she was out for a run. Here's a link to the article I read:
An excerpt from that article:
"This Saturday, January 18, 2014, no matter what your distance, no matter where you live, run for Meg.
"Take in the fresh air, be aware of your surroundings, keep your headphones on low, feel the heaviness in your lungs, the soreness in your legs, and be grateful for it–for all of it.
"The sweat, the pain, the wind, the cold…everything.
"Be grateful for that moment."
I'm not a runner, but I intend to take a walk in Meg's honor. I'm not sure how far I will make it with the predicted high of 19 and 3-4" of snow in the forecast, but I am going to give it my best effort because I am still here.
Yes, my body is hampered by my weight, but I have breath in me and I can move. Meg no longer has this privilege, but I do.
Will you join me?
