I'm struggling a little with the idea of follow the Beck Diet Solutions to the fullest as it was intended. Some things I'm reading just do not jive with me.
For instance when we get to day 12, she talks about intentionally skipping lunch. Um.. no.
I understand the philosophy is that missing a meal isn't going to kill you, However research shows that by skipping meals, you will overeat/ eat the wrong food at your next meal.
There was also the idea of measuring out your portion, then purposely putting more food on your plate and throwing it away. Again, I get it's about either it's wasted in the trash or it's wasted on you- either way it's wasted. But I think of a family barely getting by and you're deliberately taking food that you know you're throwing away. -- Sorry it must be my poverty level upbringing, but I just can't get with that.
I like the idea of changing my thinking.. I like the response cards.. I like telling myself just suck it up and do it anyway.. so I think I'll be modifying to suit my needs better.
