Sunny Tuesday

Tuesday, January 14, 2014

I always feel better when it is sunny......
Today as I was waiting in line at the store I was talking to a young women, she appeared to be maybe 30 or so....she asked me about the South Beach diet bars I was buying....She asked if there were good and if they helped loose weight...she did not appear to need to loose weight but she was using a scooter and had a cane ....I told her a very short version of my weight loss and how the bars helped me get through the rough times of wanting to eat sweet , like candy and cakes....she told me a story that she too was once very obese but she choose to have Gastric by pass surgery, and she had a stroke, she almost died, she said that she was so scared for a very long time and even after all that went wrong she was better off today than before the surgery....that seemed strange to me....she said she was probably as good as she would be but she was still happier being in a normal weight range but still has struggles with food and the desire to want junk food...I told her about Spark People and how it helps me ...that there are a lot of people who could give her support and help her with her struggles..I also to her to try the South Beach Diet Bars, they help me with cravings and to get over some of the rough spots....they taste good , have 100 calories, have 6 grams of protein and 6 grams of fiber, 14 grams of carbs....but for me they seem to satisfy my cravings for more unhealthy foods...

I gave her my name here on spark people so I hope she will join us.....
I still am trying to digest the fact that she feels better after a stock that almost killed her than being over weight.....

Have a Healthy and Happy Tuesday....

Kitt, I think you may just have lit another spark inside someone's heart--as you have done many times before, I know.
God bless you for being who you are!

This is paying it forward in the best possible way. I hope she finds SP and begins the journey of healing that she needs.

Great job, Kitt.

Wow, what a cool thing that you ran into her and shared stories. It's proof that our paths cross those of the people we're meant to meet and that there's a reason for everything we go through. It's pretty amazing how she feels, too, about the before and after, even with what happened. You just keep reaching people and providing cool support and I think you're awesome!

What a great story! How wonderful that you were there to share your weight loss story with her, and to tell her about SP. She must have been very unhappy before her surgery. But I have a cousin who had the same thing done about a year ago, and I thank God that she is doing great! She told me about all of the things they told her could happen, including stroke, and the myriad of physical, and psychological tests you must go through and pass.
I do hope she will join us on SP for the support she seems to need.

What a great blog. Kitt, you were so inspirational for that lady. You told your story and I am sure she thought what a great thing you had done. Good for you for spreading the spark and maybe she will check out the site and join. You have done a wonderful job on your "long" journey and still are doing a good job. Thank you for being you.

You're such an inspiration to me.
My niece is in her early 30s and underwent gastric bypass surgery last week. It makes me feel so sad that she felt surgery was the only solution to her weight issues.

Way to go on Spreading the Spark!

I feel better on sunny days too; our day yesterday started out very gloomy, and so was my mood; I was amazed at how much it improved when the sun came out in the afternoon.

Kitt, it's sad that she feels her life is better now after a stroke than when she was overweight. Her life must have been miserable. I sure hope that she checks out Spark. I think it will do her a lot of good. That was so sweet of you to talk to her and share your story. Hope you have a great rest of the day!!

Kitt, I have always felt like God places at the right place and at the right time for people who may need us or us them. What an amazing story! I hope that young woman does join Spark People for the emotional support, plus the knowledge that she can gain. I also use South Beach bars when I need them. They aren't going to make a person lose weight on their own, but they are a good tool for those hard times when we just have to have that something sweet to see us through. Hugs, kathy
