A WARM DAY IN January

Tuesday, January 14, 2014

A WARM DAY IN January reminds me that Spring is coming. There is nothing quite as nice as that kind of reminder!
Red bellied woodpecker.

Hmm, I hate to be a bummer, but there's a lot of winter before spring! LOL!! (we had about 10 inches of snow last night. Too much winter!)

emoticon We are in our January Thaw here, too. The fields are almost bare, and with rain or showers predicted for all week, emoticon the snow will ALL be gone soon. Love your picture...such pretty colors on that handsome woodpecker! emoticon

    Oh, how cute!
The advantage of advancing age is that the winter seems to pass quickly!

Beautiful picture but have to agree with 1Crazydog. We have a woodpecker who keeps pecking at the wood window frames. I bang on the window, he flies away and in a little while we do the whole thing all over again. All throughout the day!! He has pecked some serious holes in the frames. Spring time work for hubby to try to patch them up. LOL!!!

It is warm here too in PA in the 50s and drizzly rain but getting colder this weekend when we are moving younger daughter into her apartment. Brrrrrr!!!

Have a great day!!

They are beautiful creatures, but destructive! One house we lived in had wood siding. One morning I heard this rat-a-tat-tat, rat-a-tat-tat . . . rapid fire. Went outside and saw a line of holes in the siding! A woodpecker! Boy, are they precision drillers!! Just had to fill the holes and paint the area, but got a plastic owl to scare them away. Worked! Beautiful creatures ,though!

Beautiful bird. Don't get too convinced that Spring has sprung. We are having unseasonably warmer temps here on this side of the USA because of the jet stream. California needs water and so does Idaho. Hope it changes back to winter soon. I don't need Idaho Power to increase their charges because of the excuse of not enough snow fall.
