Marathon Training WK1 DONE - And I Feel Better for IT!

Can I just say that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE having a training plan. It felt SO good this week to actually put effort into my workouts knowing that I have a marathon scheduled and ready to go. I haven't yet clicked the button to sign up but I will do so before the price increases by 1/15. Not only have my workouts been on track but my nutrition has fallen in line as a result as well. I know sometimes people have trouble eating right during training but sometimes I am the opposite because I generally have an understanding that what I eat will help me perform better.

On a better news front which I think has also assisted with things falling in line, DH started his new job this week. Although less money he is definitely making it up in overtime. There is potential for sure in the position which is the reason why I support everything he is doing but this has certainly turned our house into absolute madness. Before we had a pretty good system with drop off/pick up child care, now every day its a scramble. UGH. But I really should not complain because truly I am proud of him and I know that I am lucky to have someone that was so motivated to go back to work instead of just collecting a check for 26 or whatever weeks.

Anyhow...In addition I had some weekly goals last week which I will report on and also some goals for this week. I just have to keep up this consistency and all will be good and really IT FEELS GOOD!

WK 1 RESULTS
#1. No cheese this week - that means no Cumby's stops for string cheese whatsoever - DID really well...until Friday pasta dinner in prep for 10M run in which I added some grated cheese, but otherwise NO CHEESE all week, I count this as a win
#2. Vegetables with both lunch and dinner, no skipping - DONE
#3. Get a food scale or retrieve my old one from my other office - Negative, looked for it at other office, cannot find it but have not resolved to buy one yet which I must do this week
#4. Do all prescribed workouts for marathon training even if it is cold - YES even outside runs
#5. On Friday, do not order out for lunch AND only healthy carb pasta for dinner in prep for 10M run on Saturday - Well, I ordered out, mgr was paying BUT I did order a salad, that's gotta count for something, did healthy carb dinner
#6. CLEAN EAT!! At minimum M-F - Give myself a B+ average, Friday night was the only time I kinda strayed

TRAINING RESULTS WK1

Monday - OFF
Tuesday - 5M pace run, 6.5 mph treadmill
Wednesday - 5M run outside, 43:28, 8.65 mins per mile
Thursday - 3M treadmill, 7mph
Friday - 3M run outside, 27:12, 9.04 mins per mile
Saturday - 10M run outside, beautiful day, 1:28:17, 8.81 mins per mile
Sunday - cross training, intended on going to the gym but DH had to work so I ended up walking 3M with DS#2

WK2 GOALS
#1. Purchase a book about marathons
#2. Sign up for marathon
#3. On Friday, no snacking beyond just carb dinner in prep for long run
#4. Do not skip gym cross train day - do stationary bike
#5. Stretch before and after every run, ice after long run
#6. On Sunday, do not do a free fall ice, stick to clean eating with maybe an after dinner desert
#7. Check in with Spark every day this week

    WooHoo on your husbands new job. You guys will fall into a new rhythm in no time.

Awesome job on making your last weeks goals. Do you know what marathon book your thinking of getting?? I just read one last month & it was really funny....The Nonrunner's Marathon Guide for Women: Get Off Your Butt and On with Your Training, by Dawn Dais. If your looking for something light this is a good book. Marathoning for Mortals is also really good.

    Wow, that's great! And you're an awesome runner! I'm currently training for a HM (it'll be my second one) but I only have the running schedule. I have issues with food, so I'm working on those separately for now and as I get a handle will modify my foods to be more in line. You're an inspiration! Thanks for sharing!

    Great week! Glad your hubby is back to working and there is opportunity for growth at his new job! And great job on your first week of marathon training! I am so impressed by how much and how often you run! Do you have a book in mind that you plan to buy? I have one of Hal Higdon's marathon books and I have Marathoning for Mortals - both of which I really enjoyed reading! Have a great week!
