An exciting weekend

Monday, January 13, 2014

My boyfriend proposed to me on Saturday! It was not much of a surprise, but it was still the perfect day. He told me he was secret surprise date day, which was already suspicious (plus with some other things that have happened in the past weeks, I pretty much knew it was coming lol). It started out with a quick shopping trip to Michaels and then a matinee to see Saving Mr. Banks which was a very touching movie. Then we grabbed lattes from starbucks and headed to a park to "read" (he had put our books in my purse earlier). Now it was pretty cold out to be reading in a park, but I went along with it. He led to me a bench and made me get my book out...and he had taped the ring to a bookmark inside of my book. So sneaky-- I unknowingly carried around an engagement ring for a couple of hours in my purse.

Then we went on a carriage ride around old town Fort Collins that ended with a drop off at the Melting Pot. Our table was covered in rose petals and had a dozen roses in a vase, too. It was delicious!

It turns out the diamond in my ring is from my grandmother's ring, which my mother brought to give to my boyfriend when she helped me move to Colorado last May.

And the bridal set:

Awwww,, what a keeper he is! you never DID say what your reply was!!!

So your mom was in on this from the start,, and Grandma is always going to be a part of it.. as Madeline Kahn (Lillie Von Schtupp) says in Blazing Saddles, "How Womantic."

Congratulations and may you both have at least fifty years of wedded bliss!
