Why did I open the box....

Monday, January 13, 2014

Hello wonderful community,

how are you all doing? I have had a very busy day at work, and came home, started to do a little exercise, and then once finished, and have started to tidy, I have found......

a box of my favourite chocolates....Guylain, delicious Belgian chocolates in the shapes of little shells. Over xmas I did not trust myself and gave away all my chocolates, but must have forgotten this box. I am paying the price now, as I told myself only ONE, then it increased to two etc etc. I can not believe how all the good habits go flying out of the window, when I have them on view. emoticon emoticon

PLEASE HELP ME TO STOP, I have put them on the highest cupboard but they are calling me! With the constantly words of JUST ONE MORE!!!!

Nooooo, I battle with myself, think of all the fitness minutes you are going to have to undertake..........but the chocolates keep tempting me....CAN ANYONE HELP....

Looks like you've received lots of advice on this one...

I just say to log each one into the food tracker. That is the only wake up call and true eye-opener that works for me, so I hope it works for you, too.

Best wishes...

In addition to what everyone else said, I would also add that you shouldn't beat yourself up. Focus on the positive, remember the things you've done right in the past and use those memories to give you the strength to do what's right for you in this moment.

Flush them is my vote, since if you know they are in the rubbish then you may dig them out! Or if that isn't good freeze them, that worked for me when I needed to ration food items~

emoticon I agree with Lynn, flush them...when you put them in the toilet you'll see what they look like...and keep that visual with you!! I showed the picture of where chocolate really comes from on one of my blogs...the Christmas elf squatting over the toilet to deposit the chocolate "kiss" on top!!

    I hope you won!
Throwing away sounds awful but I have to agree with those who suggest it, considering that chocolates will be gone anyway and better in the garbage then in the stomach of someone who didn't need them ; )
I must admit though I never had the strength to throw away.

Get little bags and freeze them and when you want one then get one out and enjoy it slowly and keep the rest in the freezer. After you have it get a cup of green tea and enjoy it too.

Throw them away. Put garbage on top of them. It's the only thing that works for me once I've started...

You know better. Since you deviated from your path and are now starting in on the guilt and remorse, does that make you feel better? No it doesn't.

You are more powerful than a box of chocolate.
You are more powerful than the thoughts of guilt.
You are more powerful than depression and grief.
You are more powerful than all of this put together.

Throw them in the garbage. I've had to learn to do that. I still have a guilty conscience - starving children, wasting money, but the unfortunate will always be among us. No need to compound the problem. When you put in the garbage push it down to the bottom, cos if it's on top you may get it out.

    Big glass of water first?

And then if it doesn't work, sometimes, however much it hurts, you just have to bin them!

Or see if you can persuade yourself to portion them up into little baggies, and promise them on certain days?

Yesss! I can help!!! FLUSH EM!! Hang in there - but don't beat yourself up. Our favorite foods are the hardest to resist ... all of us would struggle in this situation!

Sounds like you opened Pandora's box. Get them out of the house one way or another - my advice as another chocolate fanatic who has little control over the voices in her head that say "eat chocolate". emoticon emoticon

I do exactly what Lynn stated. Crumble them up and toss them down the toilet. I can't have temptations in my apartment as I will eat them every time.

I went through the same thing with cookies and I threw them away and took the garbage to the dumpster, and dropped the cookies inside the dumpster. They I went for a walk.

YOU CAN DO IT!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

    It's tough to resist a trigger - we've all been there !

There are great suggestions below :) Another alternative is to see if you can find a neighbor - or someone in need - to give them to. This way you do a nice thing for yourself AND someone else - win-win !!!

Reset! Hit the reset button. You opened the box, you ate the chocolate, and now itís time to move on. Go drop whatís felt in the toilet, because if you keep that box around you might as well flush everything you have done right down the toilet if you plan to keep that box of chocolate around. I've been in your shoes. I had some chocolate I had no business with hanging around my house. I thought the hubby would handle it, do away with it, and found myself hunting for it flipping his side of the bed room upside down. He came into the house asked me what I was looking for, and I said that box of chocolate. He reached under the dresser and gave me the box and said. You might as well go flush the toilet 23 times for each pound youíd lost because if you eat that chocolate all your hard work will go right down the toilet. I went into the bathroom and flushed the toilet three times dropping all 16 pieces of that chocolate in the toilet. Ever since then I donít look at chocolate the same. If you go to the toilet with it youíll see why.

I feel this too and it's hard to do it but you have too. Give it to your neighbor or throw it away.

You're going to hate my answer, lol. But I say THROW THEM AWAY. I know that totally stinks, but if you can't trust yourself with them, then you're better off to get rid of them completely. Tell yourself its better to "waste" them than to "waist" them.

I'll send you my address where to send them. (smiling) Those are my faves. Once the box is open, they are gone.
