Find a way to make it work!

Sunday, January 12, 2014

There are days I want to pass on the 10,000 steps. Yesterday I went to the gym and after lunch had a nap, then went to the film festival. When I got back I really didn't want to do the last 3,500 steps to make 10,000. I decided to walk 5 minutes before deciding if I really could not do it. As I walked I felt a little more energized and then thought about -

...what I sense as the amount of difficulty is not correct, and it is lower, and it is OK to go for it. So, I just focused on the first step, which was about choice. Let's start, and see what happens ... HAKAPES

Each day I am in some way monitoring what is the easiest way to eat well and exercise. How am I doing it? I am always looking for some way to make it work. It's hard, but it is doable.

Today I got in a walk before breakfast so I don't have to walk as much before bedtime to get in my 10,000. Learning as I go along how to make this healthier lifestyle work/easier.

During the 56 Days of the Winter 5% Challenge I will 'Find a way to make it work!'

Your blog reminded me that my pedometer has been in a drawer for several weeks now. I'm going to get it out for the 5% challenge and get my 10,000 step streak started again! Thanks!

Well done, Lynn! I know just how you feel about not wanting to exercise sometimes. But when we go ahead and do it anyway, we WIN! Keep up the good work.

emoticon that you pushed through and finished your step challenge.
Since breaking my knee in 2012 I have problems walking any distance. My leg gets SO tired and feels tight. I still use walking as my main fitness means but I walk much less than before. I still wear my pedometer though.

I love that, giving yourself five minutes to make a decion to keep going. Many of my good 30-min workouts came about because I felt too lazy so I told myself to do "just 10 minutes'".

You have a winning and inspirational attitude!

Yay!!! You got the stuff!! The "stick-to-it-tiveness" that we all could use more of!! Especially me!!!
Saw my DH looking through my copy of "The Spark Solution" as I had asked him, so hoping he's ready to do some Chef Meg cooking for us!! I bought chicken and lean ground beef at the store yesterday, so here's hoping! I Can do it, but I hate cooking, so that's why I hope he'll do it and the whole family can benefit!!
Keep up the great walking work!! You're living the dream!! (((HUGS)))

Great job!! I'm hoping I can get in on the spring challenge back with my Daisy team! I considered trying to sign up for the winter challenge but I wasn't sure if I would stay motivated enough to not let the team down.

Getting started is half the battle. Sounds to me like you're winning the whole war!!

Fabulous! I know how you feel -some days I want to curl up and read a good book. But if i get started early enough in my day, it seems silly not to get those steps.
Gotta love the 5% Challenge!

I can't tell you how many times I go out the door "just for 10 minutes" and end up walking for 45-60 minutes. Getting started IS hard some days but the important thing is we keep trying!

I spent the day house cleaning and felt bad that I didn't have time or the energy to do 3 miles of brisk walking on the treadmill. But by the time I was done cleaning, I had over 12,000 steps in! Granted, none of them were at a fast pace, but I did end up with a sparkling house!
