Less of a bummer than my last blog entry. I'm not giving up just because of set point theory! I've been working out on and off in December, and consistently every single day since January 1st (except one break day). I haven't joined a gym yet so I haven't begun doing weights, but I will be joining one in February. So far I've been walking uphill on the treadmill provided by my HOA, getting my heart rate in the target zone of 145 - 160 bpm. Sometimes I go 60 minutes, usually I go 30 minutes.
Also, I've been dieting. I've been keeping my calories low, and having a large salad every day. I have cottage cheese and fruit for breakfast as I have always done. Meeting both my goals of keeping my calories low and getting as much fruits and vegetables as possible.
Today I had a great victory. The entire last week, I haven't been sleeping much, no matter what I do. So today I was tired as can be. But I got on the treadmill anyway and did 60 minutes! Today is what gave me the resolve to know that I'm committed enough to go ahead and take the plunge and sign up for an actual gym.
With the increased exercise, I've noticed increased activity in the rest of my life. I can't control that I've been waking up too early lately, but I use the extra time to get things done, revise my to do list, organize, study, and generally pursue my goals. I tend to lose track of my goals sometimes, but along with the consistent exercise I've seem to become more interested in adopting good habits in my life in general. I'm really enjoying myself and accomplishing a lot. I'll let you know how it's going in another couple weeks.
