An unexpected bonus

Sunday, January 12, 2014

My Comcast bill recently hit $200 a month, even without home phone service (I only have a cell phone). I had to call them about an unrelated matter. While I was on the phone with the agent, he told me that if I added home phone to the package, I'd get all three with no change to my TV or Internet -- but the bill would drop to $119 a month. An almost 50% drop? I jumped on it! How often do I get a chance to save $81 a month?

I call every two months and ask Comcast if they have an deals that will lower my bill. I don't think I've paid over $100 in five years with my internet and able. You can do it all the time.

Sounds like a great deal. Be sure to call them right away, if they start to raise the price again.

Comcast is known for doing things like this. My question is, Why not be ethical and charge everyone fairly? They charge and charge until people complain then they lower the bill like they are doing you a FAVOR! Then the bill will creep up again and the game will be repeated. We did it for years, finally decided enough and went with basic cable and internet (they are the only game in town for internet). We pay $80.00 per month and we bought Amazon prime to watch movies and other tv. I think even if we were not saving so much I would dump Comcast because of their business practices! Sorry for the rant, Comcast makes me nuts.

Great! They will raise it, next year, most likely, but call and they may work out a deal, with you, again.

Bundling all 3 into one will save money. I hate using my cell phone as my main contact number hence why we won't get rid of our landline. That and our one daughter doesn't have a cell phone yet so it is the only way I have to contact her before or after school.

I never understand our cable/internet/phone bill. It will up significantly 3 months in a row, but after we called to complain, they cut it by $10. I think they just make it up as they go along. Sounds like you got a good deal!

I have the same situation. I don't use a home phone, but I saved money by letting them sign me up for a service that I didn't really want and don't plan to use. Go figure.
