My first day at work.

My new Legoland Discovery Center job!
It was a good day, I am scheduled for 4 days in photo training from 9am til 1 pm, and then I will get 4 days on the retail part of the job.
I got there about a half hour early today, which is about normal for me, it makes me nuts to be late getting anywhere (especially work), so I am a perpetual early person.
The retail manager got there about ten minutes after me and let me in, commenting that I was early and that she likes that.

I was supposed to start at the photo counter where people come check out their pics and can buy them or put in special orders for some of the other picture products, but it turns out that the person who was supposed to be taking pics called in and the retail mgr was trying to talk the admissions mgr out of putting me down there because it was my first day. I agreed to give it a try (I would get to it sooner or later anyways), and it wasn't so bad. As the customers come through admissions, I just asked them if they were ready for pictures and direct them to the screen. Almost everyone agreed, I have them take a 'Cheese' pic, and then either make scary or silly faces...the kids were all SOOOO cute!
In 3 hours, I snapped almost 200 pictures!

I made sure to eat before I left the house, I had 2 eggs and a whole bagel. I usually only eat a half of a bagel, but I wasn't sure if I was going to get a break in my shift because it was such a short shift...and I was right! No break.

I thought I was going to take the bus home (my sis dropped me off), but by the time I walked a block and was in front of Starbucks (conveniently...er, UNconveniently!) my sister called and said she was on her way back to town and did I want a ride.
I waited for her and drank a small? tall? whatever vanilla something or other, lol! It was yummy, but expensive for a small coffee!

I had went grocery shopping last night for a bunch of recipes that can be frozen and then just tossed in the oven or crock pot, so I put almost all of those together after I got home, giving me another 4 hours or so on my feet. I probably overdid it considering my recent lack of activity, but I feel good to be back at work and I also feel good about getting so much prep-cooking accomplished...but was STARVING by the time dinner was ready! I knew I should have eaten when I got home, but I got all caught up in making the make-ahead meals. I did munch on a couple slices of turkey in between getting that done and dinner.
I do love cooking and sometimes I wish that I could work in a restaurant.

I have no idea about how to track any exercise that I got today, it was mostly standing or roaming around in a small area. I did a lot of shifting my weight from foot to foot, front and back and side to side. I got a couple of good stretches on my back too by touching my toes.
I got 2 flights of stairs in when I got to work and after my shift, so 4 flights all together, and also, the camera is on an accordion thingy attached to the ceiling that I had to reach up for for every pic and to push it back up after each one so no one would walk into it. It's not heavy or hard to move, but after the first hundred times or so, I could feel it a bit in my shoulder and in forearm underneath my thumb...I will have to try alternating hands next time and see if that helps.

I took something for my knees and and off to bed, tomorrow should be pretty good, I work from 9 til 1 again but no time consuming cooking afterwords...I am sure my feet and knees will be happier!

So glad you started work at last. You've already impressed the management, by being early and taking the photos. The coffee thing sounds very very nice. Good on you for organising your weekly meals. emoticon

It sounds like you're already making a good impression on your new boss. Good on ya!

I'd keep a half-ounce or an ounce of almonds in pocket to eat at the end of your shift. That way, you're not super hungry when you get home.

All the moving around you do at work may not qualify as "exercise," but it is movement and your body will feel it. You're burning more calories than you would sitting at a desk. That will pay off!

Coming in early will always make a great impression AND give you plenty of time to settle in.

Sounds like an interesting job. It works you out and you get paid. Cool.

Like you said, no cooking for tomorrow so you can rest. Planning ahead really is smart. But you know that.

I had a job for some years that was part time like that, and my arms got sore from using a pricing gun on hundreds of items. Never could NOT get sore from doing the same motion over and over.
It was fun times, and I hope this new job is fun for you, too.
